Several of them could fit in a standard on-street parking slot. The point seems to be that your body won’t have any contact with asphalt. I have no idea what the mileage was. TATA could sell his car here in the U.S., but it might need some polution controls.

Lets get the mushy stuff out of the way first:
yeah, Kudos to Ratan Tata for delivering on his promise of getting a car on the road for 1 lakh. If he can do this, he could easily have done the $100 laptop – easily. Just get that MIT guy out of the way and hand over the project to Ratan Tata!

I wish you had talked about the environmental impact of replacing all those scooters with cars. And what about the traffic congestion and accidents and injuries to pedestrians and animals on the already horrible roads.

In a sense, this does level the field a bit. Why should only the rich get to pollute the environment? and kill others with their driving? Now even the poor can do it!

Every person who belongs to middle class, who has been always dreaming to own a car but couldn’t afford one is thanking ‘TATA’ from bottom of his heart. This would indeed impact the Indian economy in many ways.
